The Mexican National Team came out with a necessary win against Jamaica on Thursday night. With 16 shots, El Tri were able to get two goals in the net by Javier “Chicharito” Hernández, and Oribe Peralta.

It was a slow start in the game until the 18th minute when Chicharito gave the upper lead with a header. Venezuelan fans also celebrated as it gave their national team a spot in the Quarterfinals. A late goal in the 2nd half by Peralta woke the crowd up with cheer.

83,263 fans came out to support the game with majority of the Pasadena stadium representing the green jersey. This may have been a reason for Mexico’s rough nervy start.

As Mexico and Venezuela move on from Group C to the Quarterfinals, Copa America fans are waiting to see who will clinch from the other groups.

If Peru and Brazil tie, Ecuador can still move onto the Quarterfinals by winning AND having more points in goal differential than Peru or Brazil.
